Just be aware that we do not provide housing or care services ourselves, so we cannot accept applications for housing and do not have any control over the services listed on our site. We frame our offer around ‘home’ because we understand its importance for everyone. But also because planning ahead may be needed to ensure that where you live now is ‘age proofed’, and that if you wish to consider moving, you have good information and advice to help you understand all your options. Care homes are regulated by independent Inspectorates in each country of the UK, subject to periodic inspections and awarded quality grades.

Buckshaw Village is a new residential area that has been developed with families in mind. We have recently been able to open EAC Advice, a new 'housing options' advice service for older people. Generally the whole complex will be designed with attention to accessibility for residents with restricted mobility. From Brunch dishes through to relaxed dinner, our food is inspired by our international and national travels. You can eat & drink on our wonderful terrace at the front of the restaurant, or enjoy the restaurant decor that creates a relaxed bistro-style ambience, with a living wall inside, mirrors and big pictures.
A majority of homes aim to cater for both, but some target only one or the other. Housing-with-care is a recent but natural evolution of retirement housing to provide an environment capable of enabling older people to maintain their independence even if they become physically or mentally frail. Deciding whether to move home in older age can be challenging. A move may provide a whole new lease of life, but a wrong choice can be difficult to undo.

Overall, everyone in the group said they had a fantastic time, it was a great atmosphere in the restaurant too and we we’re all working out when we can go back again. Purpose built, our award-winning specialist residential with nursing care home offers specialist care and clinical support to people living with a dementia related illness. A popular feature on our site is the Entertainers’ Directory, which offers an advertising opportunity to entertainers who enjoy performing to older people in retirement housing, day centre and care home settings. EAC sees itself, and this website, as one source of ‘housing options’ information and advice for older people and their families. But there are many other organisations providing valuable services, both locally and nationally. Some care homes are registered to provide personal care only, for example help with washing, dressing and giving medication.
Really enjoyed our meal, good service, great atmosphere. The food was excellent, we chose a number of dishes for sharing, will definitely eat here again. We visited Home restaurant for afternoon tea to celebrate a family milestone. Everything was excellent from the minute you walk through the door.

Place was lovely, table was brilliant, staff were really good and food was fantastic. One slight issue with my sons food but it was resolved really pleasantly and quickly. Booked a drinks only table for the DJ session at Home. Atmosphere excellent, cocktails amazing and DJ set topped off the whole thing perfectly. Visited Home Buckshaw on many occasions and as always had an amazing meal.
These services tackle smaller repair jobs, including installing safety & security devices. They are provided by many local Age UKs as well as other organisations. If you find you need a little extra help while still retaining as much independence as possible, or maybe you want to be nearer to family, The Grange is the ideal choice.

On weekends you can explore the sights and attractions of one of the nearby towns, or catch the train to Manchester, Preston or Blackpool for a fun day out. There are several green spaces close to the area perfect for a peaceful walk, including Bluebell Woods, Cuerden Valley Park and Worden Park. Meanwhile, fitness enthusiasts can make the most of the sports centre within Buckshaw Village and other leisure facilities including gyms and golf clubs in neighbouring Leyland and Chorley. Buckshaw Village lies within easy commuting distance of all the major North West towns and cities and is well placed for travel throughout the UK. The location has its very own railway station, Buckshaw Parkway, which provides frequent services to Manchester, Manchester Airport, Preston and Blackpool. Balshaw Lane station in Euxton is also minutes away, and additional stations can be found slightly further afield in Leyland and Chorley, providing convenient services to many of the above destinations and beyond.
At weekends our HOME turns into a lively local bar late into the evening, with cool sounds and darker lighting. Every effort has been taken to ensure the information provided here is accurate however, particulars regarding local amenities and their distances are for general guidance only. Where schools and other educational facilities are mentioned they are intended to highlight their distance from the development and don’t represent a guarantee of admission or eligibility.
Travel times and distances assume journeys are made by car. Times are likely to vary according to travel conditions and time of day. Other convenient amenities on Buckshaw Village's doorstep include excellent local schools, a new purpose-built health centre with doctors and dentists, a sports centre and a brand new Tesco store for your weekly shop.
Most retirement developments offer either properties for sale or for rent, but newer ones may offer both tenure options, and possibly shared ownership too. Buying a ‘home for life plan’, or ‘lifetime lease’, gives you the right to live in a property until you die or move to a care home. This might enable you to live somewhere you couldn’t otherwise afford.
